New Postcards Promote Protection of Bears

Education for Nature – Vietnam (ENV) has released two series of postcards featuring artwork from the 2005 - 2006 competition, Bring Peace to Vietnam’s Bears.  Twenty designs were chosen from more than 96,000 entries in the contest.  The postcards were developed as part of ENV’s efforts to increase awareness about the plight of Vietnam’s bears, threatened by hunting and trade.

One series showcases the winning artwork, whose titles stand alone as an expression of the artists’ feelings.  The other includes 10 informative messages (Vietnamese and English) about the bear trade in Vietnam as well as illustrations from the competition.

The postcards also advertise the ENV Wildlife Crimes Hotline aimed at encouraging greater public involvement in efforts to combat the illegal trade of wildlife.

ENV plans to distribute the postcards as part of the upcoming “Bring Peace to Vietnam’s Bears” exhibition, planned for late November in Hanoi.  Limited numbers of postcards will also be distributed through ENV’s new Save Our Wildlife Volunteer Network.

ENV wishes to thank the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) for their generous and ongoing support of efforts to protect Vietnam’s bears.
