Green Forest No.32: Wonderful sounds from nature

Education for Nature – Vietnam (ENV) announces the release of its 32nd issue of the popular children’s nature magazine, Green Forest, which includes interesting adventures to help young readers discover the secrets of our native wildlife and the natural environment that surrounds us.

This latest issue of Green Forest features the song birds of Vietnam, some of which can sing hundreds of different tunes each day. Readers also find out about the lives of dolphins, and discover where they live, how they communicate and why they are considered one of the most intelligent species in the ocean, as well as the beautiful Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park located in the central highlands and home to many endangered and endemic fauna and flora species.

Each issue of Green Forest examines an important environmental issue that directly impacts the lives of people. In this issue, readers are introduced to the problem of waste water treatment and pollution in Vietnam, especially in big cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

As usual, young readers will enjoy the latest Ranger Bear comic in the series, this issue featuring a young squirrel who wishes to be like Ranger Bear, and his efforts to rescue an overweight binturong from captivity.

Green Forest also includes contributions from students and educators from throughout the country, as well as activities, games, cartoons, and stories that provide an enjoyable way for students to learn about important issues relating to nature and the environment. Students have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas about environmental protection with
other readers through stories, poems, or letters mailed to ENV.

ENV wishes to thank Toyota Motor Vietnamfor supporting this important educational resource and would also like to thank our friends, supporters, and readers who continue to make valuable contributions to each issue of Green Forest.

About Education for Nature - Vietnam

Education for Nature-Vietnam (ENV) was established in 2000 as Vietnam’s first non-governmental organization focused on conservation of nature and the environment through education.  Our mission is to foster greater understanding amongst the Vietnamese public about environmental issues of local, national and global significance, ranging from protection of wildlife and natural ecosystems to climate change. We employ creative and innovative strategies to influence attitudes and behavior, not only highlighting the need to protect Vietnam’s rich natural heritage and the living world around us, but also encouraging greater public participation in achieving this important and challenging task.
