Quang Ngai: Bear cub kept illegally
On November 18, 2011, ENV received information on a case involving an Asiatic black bear (Selenarctos thibetanus) weighing 60 kg which was being kept illegally by a resident in Son Tay district, Quang Ngai province. It is known that this bear cub was bought from a hunter two years ago. Quang Ngai Forest Protection Department (FPD) contacted ENV regarding its release. After consultation between ENV and FPD in Son Tay district, it was agreed that the bear would be transferred to a rescue centre.
