Son La: Two bear cubs safely transferred
On September 27, 2011, a man who resides in Mai Son district, Son La province contacted ENV’s hotline to report that he wanted to transfer two Asiatic black bears (Selenarctos thibetanus), which were bought from Laos. Immediately, ENV contacted Son La authorities about the case. However, when authorities came to the subject’s house, he demanded a fee before he would transfer the bears. Hence, the authorities took the subject into custody in order to confiscate the bears. The two bears then were transferred to Mai Son district FPD and the subject was fined.
