Dak Nong: Rase wildlife released into forest
On July 21, ENV received a report that some rare wildlife animals were being held in captivity in the Hanoi Hotel in Gia Nghia town, Dak Nong. After being contacted by ENV, Dak Nong Forest Protection Department immediately confiscated the animals and transferred them to Gia Nghia forest protection station.
On September 21, in Ta Dung Nature Reserve, Dak Giong district, the local authorities released five wild animals (belonging to Group IB and Group IIB of Decree 32/ND-CP- the group of rare wild animals forbidden to be exploited or used for commercial purposes), including a 3 kg Northern white-cheeked gibbon (Hylobates concolor leucogennys), a 5 kg stump-tailed macaque (Macaca arctoides),a 2 kg long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis), a 1 kg brown fish owl (Ketupa zeylonensis) anda 3 kg small Indian civet (Viverricula indica).
