Lam Dong: Yellow-cheeked gibbon rescued
On July 14, Lam Dong FPD confiscated a yellow-cheeked gibbon (Hylobates gabriellae) that was being kept at a house in Da Lat city. The gibbon was then transferred to Da Lat city FPD. A resident in Ho Chi Minh City called the ENV hotline to inform them about the case. ENV contacted the local FPD who rescued the animal and kept it until it could be transferred to the rescue center.
Yellow-cheeked gibbon belongs to group IB of Decree 32/ND-CP - the group of rare wild animals forbidden to be in captivity, hunted, traded or killed.
