Da Nang: Seizure of wildlife kept at coffee shop
On April 18, a rhesus macaque (macaca mulatta) and an eagle kept at a local coffee shop were seized and released into the wild by Da Nang Forest Protection Department (FPD). A volunteer informed ENV about this case. ENV contacted Da Nang FPD who immediately rescued the animals.
At the coffee shop, the authorities also found a sambar deer (cervus unicolor) and a green peafowl (pavo muticus) with legal origin. These animals were not confiscated but were forbidden to be displayed anymore at the coffee shop in accordance with the law on forest protection and development. The subject was given an administrative fine.
