Quang Tri: Seizure of a rhesus macaque
On April 8, a rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) weighing approximately 2kg was confiscated by Dong Ha district FPD, Quang Tri province, at a local coffee shop. An ENV volunteer informed ENV about this case. ENV contacted Dong Ha district FPD who immediately rescued the macaque. The animal is being kept at the local FPD before being released into the wild.
Rhesus macaque belongs to group IIB of Decree 32/ND-CP – the group of rare wild animals restricted to be exploited and used for commercial purposes.
