Company fined for toxic waste

HA NOI — The Chemical Electrical Engineering Enterprise, which is part of the Viet Nam Waterway Corporation, has been fined a total of VND108 million (US$6,000) by the Ha Noi People’s Committee for violating eight environmental protection regulations.

The offences included failing to report on the environmental impact of discharging waste containing high levels of toxic substances, processing waste inappropriately and releasing waste water without a legal permit.
