Reduction of Arsenic Pollution in Red River Delta region
The Red River Delta arsenic pollution situation was discussed at a recent three day conference in Ha Nam Province. The delegates developed a list of measures to reduce arsenic pollution.

Maize starch helps the environment
A company in Ho Chi Minh City has introduced to the market a new innovative food and drink wrapping made from maize starch. The material is seen as an excellent environment-friendly alternative to the current use of plastic bags.

Toyota boots “Go Green” Campaign
On 24 June, 2008, Toyota Motor Company officially launched a campaign named “Go Green” including activities to raise the community’s awareness about environmental protection. The first phase of the program is intended to last for three years from now to 2011.

Recycled plastic poses danger to life
A group of scientists have warned against the use of recycled plastic, pointing out damages it may cause to human health. They have suggested that both producers and the customers are risking their own lives due to limited knowledge.

Dong Nai: Authorities helpless in face of illegal mineral exploitation
The illegal mineral exploitation in the area of Giang Dien Commune, Trang Bom District has recently become a serious problem. However, the authorities had difficulties in immediately catching the people involved and consequently could not charge them due to lack of evidence.

Bac Kan: Authorities displays signs of screening timber-stealers
The illegal timber exploitation in Dong Phuc forest, in the buffer zone of Ba Be Lake National Park is a serious problem over which to date no one has been punished. The authorities are suspected of aiding those illegally exploiting timber.

ENV’s activities
ITC film shown at the American Center
With the support from US Embassy, ENV has recently shown a film about the critical threat of the hunting and trade to Asia’s tigers to students and embassy staff in the American Center. It was produced by the Environmental Justice Foundation for the International Tiger Coalition. ENV produced a Vietnamese-language narrated version of this short film and will continue to use it in awareness programs. The release of the ITC tiger film coincides with the launch of a new campaign by ENV to eliminate the tiger trade in Vietnam.
