Hanoi: 1,2 kilogram of rhino horns illegally traded
On 11th June, 2008, two people were caught in action while they were selling 1,2 kilogram of rhino horns. In addition, two gall-bladders, ten tiger paws and one tiger tooth were also confiscated.

Hanoi: Police spend sleepless night capturing people dumping waste
In the areas of Lang Hoa Lac and My Dinh, Me Tri, many roads have been narrowed down with the appearance of huge piles of construction waste. The traffic police have to work hard on their night shift to apprehend those illegally dumping this waste.

General inspection of wildlife trade and farming
In accordance with the Correspondence 970 released in the middle of April by Ministry of Rural and Agricultural Development, a general inspection of all wildlife hunting, killing, transporting, farming and trading activity on a national scale will be carried out. However, whether the inspection will be fruitful or not is still a question due to many legal barriers.

Bac Ninh: Ngu Huyen Khe - the dying river
The Ngu Huyen Khe River is suffering from severe pollution due to the dumping of both solid waste and sewage from nearby craft villages and factories. However, no drastic measures against the situation have been as yet undertaken.

Dak Lak: 2,000 m3 of valuable timber illegally cut down
The results of a recent inspection of the amount of timber cut down in Yok Don National Park have been released. Since mid-2007, over 2,000 m3 of rare and valuable timber has been cut down with estimated loss of 30 billion VND.

Quang Nam: Buffalos contribute to deforestation
People in Nam Giang District lend a hand to timber-stealers by using their buffalos to transport timber. Although local authorities are strongly concerned about this situation, they have not as yet come up with any efficient solutions.
