Wild animals confiscated from illegal trade
On October 17, 27kg of turtles, monitor lizards, civets and tockays were confiscated by Krong-Trai forest management team as they were being illegally traded. All the animals were then released into Krong-Trai forest, Phu Yen Province. (Vietnamese version)

On October 22, 640kg of wild animals including snakes, turtles, civets and porcupines were discovered by Quang Binh Forest Protection Department, hidden under the seats of a public bus. (Vietnamese version)

Bear cub rescued in Lam Dong Province
After receiving a tip-off through the ENV hotline, Lam Dong Forest Protection Department successfully confiscated a bear cub that was being kept illegally at a tourist site in Da Lat town., ENV then coordinated the transfer of this bear cub to the Bear Rescue Center at Tam Dao National Park, established by Animals Asia Foundation (AAF).
Giant flying fox species threatened in Soc Trang Province
Lately, illegal hunting of giant flying foxes in Soc Trang Province has become increasingly common due to the rising prices they have been able to fetch on the market. As a result, the population of giant flying foxes at Mahatup pagoda is in rapid decline. On October 17, Soc Trang Forest Protection Department released eight giant flying foxes back into their native habitat at the Mahatup pagoda, after confiscating them from illegal hunting. Using formaldehyde to conserve wildlife
The consumption of wildlife is not only against the law, but it also results in widespread destruction of nature. Ironically, wildlife consumption is also causing gradual harm to consumers as a result of the formaldehyde – a chemical toxic for living bodies – that wildlife traders often use to keep wild animals fresh.
