Recently, Nghe An traffic police confiscated 300kg of pangolins as they were being transported illegally, and transferred them to the local Forest Protection Department. (Vietnamese version)

Forest Protection Department condones illegal import of tigers
Following on from the recent case in which several tigers were found being kept illegally in captivity, Thai Nguyen Forestry Protection Department have acted outside of their authority in subsequently giving approval for the owner to keep these animals. (Vietnamese version)

An X-ray for an injured gibbon
On October 14, a gibbon which had been shot was brought to the local hospital by staff from Cuc Phuong Endangered Primate Rescue Center, to be given an x-ray to aid in its diagnosis and recovery. This is the first time an X-ray has been performed on a gibbon in Vietnam. (Vietnamese version)

Kien Giang limestone – high biodiversity site

New Law Documents
On 4th October 2007, The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) issued a new correspondence regarding the management of wildlife breeding farms. According to the correspondence, authorities must carry out and complete investigations of all establishments in their local areas at which bears are kept by December 15, 2007. Violations of the regulation relating to bear management will be strictly punished. (Vietnamese version)
