Wild animals confiscated from illegal trade
Recently, 100kg of snakes, 10kg of monitor lizards and 1kg of soft-shell turtles were confiscated by An Giang Forest Protection Department while being transported illegally. (Vietnamese version)

On September 16, 30kg of fresh deer meat was confiscated by Tan Phu police, Dong Nai province as it was being transported. The next day, ninety-one long-tailed macaques were confiscated by Quang Ninh police as they were being smuggled to China.

One ton gaur butchered in Vinh Cuu Nature Reserve
On September 16, Vinh Cuu police discovered two men illegal transporting gaur meat within Vinh Cuu Nature Reserve in Dong Nai province. The suspects had trapped, butchered and then dried the flesh from the wild ox. (Vietnamese version)

Gaurs spotted in Quang Tri
A herd of around nine gaurs was recently observed in Tru Lau forest in Quang Tri province. According to forest rangers, the animals returned to the forest late this year compared to their usual arrival in March – May.

New Biosphere Reserve in Nghe An
