Tan Hoi Dong Ltd., owner of one of the few Vietnamese animal centers of its kind, is raising a variety of rare snakes, turtles and most notably, the Long-tailed Macaque monkey (macaca fascicularis), to study human vaccination.
The US’s Primate Products Inc. has cooperated with the company to legally trade the Macaque monkeys, set up laboratories and establish a vaccine institution last July.
Tan Hoi Dong is one of Vietnam’s first companies to breed such rare animals, according to the United Nations’ Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
