Wild animals confiscated
On August 1, forty-three wild animals including turtles and pangolins were confiscated by Da Nang police while being transported to Hanoi.

On August 6, 100kg of turtles, 947kg of monitor lizards and 55kg of common rat snakes were confiscated by Tien Yen Forest Protection Department, Quang Ninh province while being transported from Ha Long to Mong Cai.

Wild elephants rattle villagers in Quang Nam

Working together to clean up Hoan Kiem lake
The Vietnamese and German governments, are currently finalizing plans to cooperate on a one-million Euro project to clean up Hoan Kiem lake. The project, planned for early 2008, will aim to clean up the famous lake in a sustainable manner, by absorbing excess silt. (Vietnamese version)

Environmental photography contest launched
On August 1, the Vietnamese Association of Photographic Artists and the Vietnam Environment Protection Agency (VEPA) have launched a photography contest on the topic “The Environment and Life Around Us”. The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2007. (Vietnamese version)
