Every summer and fall, dozens of University of Agriculture and Forestry students travel to Ba Ria Vung Tau province’s Con Dao Island, some 200km from Vung Tau, to help the turtles’ through their breeding season.
Tran Quang Them, head of the local ranger station, said dozens of turtles come onshore to breed every night of the season.
The students oversee the turtles’ deliveries and bring the eggs to safe areas to avoid being swept away by tides.
When the baby turtles hatch, they are release back to the sea.
Vietnam is home to five species of sea turtles, all of which are listed as endangered species in the World Red Book.
