On July 24, 290kg of Common Rat Snakes, 65kg of Monitor Lizards and 15kg of turtles were confiscated by Quang Binh Forest Protection Department.

Hoi An Rangers released pangolins into the wild
On July 18, the Hoi An Forest Ranger Force released eight wild pangolins, which had been confiscated from illegal trade, into the forest on Cham Island.

Relative of ancient plant species discovered in Lam Dong province
A rare palaeo-plant species (Trigonobalanus verticillata Forman) has been discovered in Bidoup Nui Ba National Park in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong by scientists from the National Park and Da Lat University. This genus of evergreen tree from the family Fagaceae is only found in tropical forests in Vietnam, Indonesia and the Malay Peninsula.

Titanium extraction destroying Vietnam’s central coast
Titanium extraction is polluting underground water, leading to the deforestation of protective forests, and sparking landslides along the coast of Central Vietnam. It is also often being done illegally, without proper authorization from relevant authorities.
