Environmental police department established
A new environmental police agency with over 120 staff members has been established to aid in the enforcement of environmental laws. It will commence operations in 30 cities and provinces in Vietnam later this year.

Hanoi zoo tiger gives birth to four cubs
An Indochinese tiger (Panthera Tigris Corbetti) whose mother was rescued from a ring of poachers in 1998 gave birth to four cubs at the end of 2006.
