New legal document on Environmental Protection
On November 22, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed Decree 140/2006/ND-CP that regulates the environmental protection on the preparation, appraisal & approval and implementation of development strategies, plans, programs and projects. The Decree states clearly that development strategies must include the environmental impact assessment and clear methods to protect environment.
In addition, the new decision also stipulates that authorities must review and make a decision on development projects within 45 days after the plans are submitted.

New Poster
People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) has just produced a new poster called “Local Community has the right to benefit from conserving and transferring local genetic resources”. The poster is aimed at encouraging local ownership and rights over medicinal plants that are part of local tradition, and benefit from the profit derived from these resources in order to enhance local livelihoods. The poster is being distributed to local people in the buffer zone of Bach Ma National Park and Ngoc Hoi commune of Chiem Hoa district in Tuyen Quang province.
