Successful cases of wildlife rescued
On May 12, a resident contacted with ENV via its hotline to inform a stump-tailed macaque (Macaca arctoides ) kept at a cafe in Quang Nam province. ENV Wildlife Crime staff quickly transferred the information to the Quang Nam Forest Protection Department (FPD). On May 13, the FPD confiscated the kept macaque and released to its natural habitat.
On April 16, a foreigner called ENV via its hotline to inform that a restaurant in Binh Duong province was keeping wildlife. ENV quickly transferred the information to Binh Duong Forest Protection Department (FPD). On May 12, the FPD confiscated the kept wildlife including a long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis), three pig-tailed macaque (Macaca leonine), an Asiatic rock python (Python molurus), a water monitor (Varanus salvator) and a clouded monitor (Varanus bengalensis). The owner of the restaurant was fined more than 5 million Vietnamese Dong. The wildlife will soon be released to their natural habitats.
