Bear confiscated from tourist site in Quang Ninh
In June, a registered bear at a Van Hai tourist site was confiscated by the local district FPD and transferred to the Hoanh Bo Farm. The owner of the tourist site was fined 12 million VND for keeping an animal in poor conditions. The case was forwarded to ENV from staff at Wildlife At Risk (WAR), who had received the initial report from a foreigner. Following ENV’s discussions with the owner and local authorities, and the informant sending a letter to the Quang Ninh People’s Committee, the bear is now being housed in much better conditions.
