Hanoi: Leopard Cat found in restaurant On 2 July, 2008, Environmental Police confiscated a leopard cat being caged in a restaurant on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street. The species is protected under 1B of Decree 32.

Phu Yen: 200kg of wildlife released back into the forest

Quang Tri: Two Asiatic Black Bears transferred to Tam Dao Bear Rescue Center
On 7 July, 2008, two Asiatic black bears were transferred to Tam Dao Bear Rescue Center. The two endangered bears were confiscated while being illegally transported across the Vietnam – Laos border into Vietnam in late March 2008.

Thanh Hoa: Man fined for illegal transportation of wildlife
A man from Gia Lai Province has been fined over 57 million VND for illegally transporting a large number of wildlife including 41 kg of common rat snakes and 107 kg of water monitors.

PanNature: Launch of the publication “Field Guide to the Large Mammals of Vietnam”
On 9 July, People and Nature Reconciliation launched the publication “Field Guide to the Large Mammals of Vietnam” printed in both Vietnamese and English language. The book is considered a dictionary of living mammals in Vietnam, as well as a valuable reference for researchers and nature-lovers.

ENV’s activities
Training course in Kon Ka King National Park and Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve
A two-week training course on communication and environmental education for staff of Kon Ka King National Park and Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve has been conducted with 13 people involved. Those who attended the course have obtained practical and useful skills to apply in their daily jobs such as presenting, lecturing and organizing extra-curricular activities on environment.
