Dien Bien: Alert of increasing wildlife trade
On 26th May, Dien Bien Police stopped a motorbike found to be carrying 30 kg wildlife. Earlier this month, Police confiscated 67.9 kg wildlife, comprised mostly of two types of endangered turtle. (Vietnamese version)

Cai River severely polluted
The Cai River is one of the two largest rivers in Khanh Hoa province and is an important source of fresh water for local agriculture and domestic use. However, the stretch of river downstream has been polluted by industrial activity, while upstream has been damaged by the impact of local breeding farms.

Climate change threatens Vietnam
Vietnam will be one of five countries worst affected by global warming and rising sea levels. The livelihoods of tens of millions of Vietnamese are threatened by these impacts. In order to help mitigate these effects, Vietnam needs to reduce its carbon emissions, increase the proportion of forest coverage, and introduce the latest energy-efficient technologies and infrastructure. Quang Binh: 255 rolls of illegal timber confiscated
Quang Binh Economic Police, working in cooperation with Quang Binh Police, confiscated two rafts carrying 255 rolls (35m3) of illegally felled timber. This is the most serious case involving the illegal trade of timber in Quang Binh province this year. (Vietnamese version)
