Twenty-seven missing bear cubs in Ha Tay province
This week, there have been several articles about a recent case in which twenty-seven bear cubs went missing from An Canh bear farm in Ha Tay province. The Forest Protection Department has admitted its failure to confiscate the bears in time, and they are now working in corporation with the police to track down the missing cubs.

Further investigation in the Hanoi tiger butchering case
After further examination, authorities have now stated that there were body parts from four tigers and five bears found at the scene. Authorities are now working to deal with the confiscated evidence. (Vietnamese version)

Wild animals confiscated from illegal trade
Recently, 100kg of pangolins and 180 macaques were confiscated by Hai Duong traffic police while being transported illegally. (Vietnamese version)

Also in early September 2007, there were two separate cases in which a total of more than 100 macaques were found being illegally transported, in Hai Phong and Khanh Hoa provinces. The macaques were subsequently confiscated by Hai Phong traffic police and Khanh Hoa Forest Protection Department. (Vietnamese version)

Wild animals re-released into the wild
On September 8, two civets and twenty porcupines, previously confiscated from an illegal wildlife transportation case, were released into the forest by Quang Nam authorities. (Vietnamese version)

Semi-wild enclosure for primates completed
On September 6, 2007, construction of a new 20 hectare semi-wild enclosure for primates in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park was officially completed. Eight Ha Tinh langurs were released into the enclosure at the opening ceremony. (Vietnamese version)

New dragonfly species recorded in Phu Quoc
Four dragonfly species not previously seen in Vietnam were observed in surveys between April and July 2007 by Wildlife at Risk (WAR).
