Green Warriors Focus on Red River Environment

The Green Warriors of Hanoi are focusing on water pollution and Red River issues as part of their regular program administered by ENV.  Monthly meetings held by the group of eleven exceptional middle school students are aimed at helping young people develop a deeper understanding about key environmental issues, and encouraging them to make practical contributions to their surrounding environment.  The students design and carry out small projects on specific issues and educate their fellow classmates.

On October 1, the Green Warriors spent a day along the Red River learning about some of the benefits associated with river, as well as identifying key threats such as wastewater pollution. During the next Green Warriors meeting, the students will devise a strategy to raise awareness amongst fellow students about water pollution in Hanoi.

The Green Warrior Program was launched as a pilot in April 2006 and has carried out projects focused on proper disposal of plastic bags and street-level air pollution.  Each undertaking involved a four-part lesson plan and culminated in a student-run activity in response to the problem that they identified.
