Wildlife Laws Online (May 26, 2008)

ENV has posted unofficial English translations of important wildlife protection laws on our website. Check out our Law Library. We will soon expand it to include translations of other relevant laws too.

Circular 59 (July 4, 2008) on management and use of income from settlement of administrative and criminal violations involving smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeiting.

Decree 32 (March 30, 2006) on the Management of Endangered, Precious, and Rare Species of Wild Plants and Animals. Vietnam’s principal wildlife protection law.

Decree 82 (August 10, 2006) on Management of Export, Import, Re-Export, and Introduction from Sea, Transit, Breeding, Rearing and Artificial Propagation of Rare, Endangered and Precious Wild Animals and Plants. A decree implementing CITES obligations in relation to import and export of CITES-listed species, and governing farming of wildlife.

Decree 159 (October 30, 2007) on Penalties Imposed on Administrative Violations in Respect to Forest Control, Forest Protection, and Forest Product Management. A decree setting fines and punishment for forest crimes.

Decision 02 (January 5, 2005) Regulations on Captive Bear Management. Regulations by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) requiring bear farmers to register bears and setting conditions for keeping of bears.

Decision 47 (June 6, 2006) Regulations on the Management of Captive Bears. Regulations issued by MARD clarifying crimes in relation to buying, selling, transporting, advertising, and trading of bears and bear products from captive bears.
