Press Release
Amphibians of Vietnam Poster
Education for Nature – Vietnam (ENV) has released a poster featuring 18 species of amphibians native to Vietnam. The poster was developed as an educational resource for the community-based environmental education program active in 43 schools bordering Cuc Phuong National Park, and will be used in conjunction with a special lesson plan on amphibians, currently being developed by ENV in cooperation with the park.
Although the poster features species that are present in Cuc Phuong, most of the frogs shown on the poster can also be found elsewhere in northern Vietnam. The poster was designed to introduce students to a variety of different types of amphibians present in open, edge, and forest habitat. The poster also illustrates the life cycle of a typical frog, showing the transition from tadpole to frog.
The new amphibian poster will be distributed to schools bordering Cuc Phuong National Park, as well as to other environmental education programs at parks and protected areas.
Special thanks to the Canada Fund for patiently supporting the development and production of this educational resource.
ENV also wishes to thank Dr. Ho Thu Cuc of IEBR for her input, as well as Peter Paul van Dijk of TRAFFIC Southeast Asia and Steve Swan of FFI Indochina for their assistance.

Background
Education for Nature – Vietnam (ENV) was established in 2001 as Vietnam’s first environmental education-focused NGO, built upon the success and experience of the community-based Conservation Awareness Program at Cuc Phuong National Park. ENV specializes in training of environmental educators, and carries out a variety of educational programs and initiatives aimed at raising awareness and understanding about the environment, and the need to protect nature and wildlife in Vietnam.
ENV’s educational programs focus on protected area stakeholders (e.g. school children, residents of local communities, park visitors), while its training programs are aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of environmental education in Vietnam through capacity building and experienced-based training for practitioners of environmental education programs in the field (e.g. teachers, local organizations, protected area staff).
To date, ENV has carried out numerous training programs and other initiatives aimed at helping establish community-based environmental education programs at national parks and protected areas (and for other area-focused conservation initiatives) including Pu Mat, Ba Be, Cat Ba, Phong Nha, Con Dao, Na Hang, Yen Bai, Sa Pa, and Bach Ma.
ENV is currently providing technical support and assistance to Cuc Phuong National Park following the transfer of the FFI-administered program to the park earlier this year.
